What's New for BPOTY 12?

With BPOTY 12 now open for entries, it's a good time to share some important details about this year's competition, including some exciting changes that have been made since the last cycle!

OPEN FOR ENTRIES

Our Entry System Has a New Look!

You may notice that our entry portal looks a little different this year! We’ve made some updates to this part of the website, so if you haven’t already, you’ll need to take a few seconds to reconfirm your account.

The good news is that if you were already registered with us, there’s no need to create a new account – simply log in as normal, and you’ll be prompted to update your details.

If you don’t already have an account with us, select "Create an account" to get started!

If you have any questions, please contact us.

The Name of This Year's Cycle

You may have also noticed a small change to the competition’s naming style. Rather than using the calendar year as we usually do, we’re excited to be celebrating the 12th Bird Photographer of the Year by naming this year's cycle BPOTY 12!

The Categories

It’s with a heavy heart that we’ve decided to remove the Video Category from this year’s competition. This was an incredibly difficult decision and one that was not taken lightly, and we apologise for any disappointment this may cause.

The good news is that there are still 10 exciting categories to enter in the adult competition, as well as 3 categories in the Youth competition!

The Judges

We have a brand new panel of expert judges who will determine this year's winners!

But that’s not all - we've also gone behind the scenes to find out more about the amazing people who will be judging your entries (including tips for entering the competition!) - keep an eye on our News Page for our Judge Spotlights.

You can find out more about the judging process here.

The Prizes

This year's prize fund stands at over £11,000 in cash and camera equipment vouchers!

The Overall Winner will receive a £3,000 cash prize, as well as the coveted title of Bird Photographer of the Year.

Whether you win Gold, Silver or Bronze, you'll take home a share of the pot!
