Young Bird Photographer of the Year

Young BPOTY coordinator and competition ambassador Megan McCubbin introduces herself and the other young competition judges and ambassadors.

An important element of the Bird Photographer of the Year competition ethos is the encouragement and recognition of the younger generation of birders and photographers. The Young Bird Photographer of the Year Award is designed to meet this aim; these awards are specifically for those under 18 and from 2020 will be separated into 3 age categories with prizes for the winner of each.

Young Bird Photographer of the Year is free to enter. Entries for 2020 have now closed and the next competition will open for entries in August 2020. Before you get started remember to read the competition rules and our guide on preparing your images. Our FAQs section also has some useful information and answers to commonly raised questions. Watch the video opposite for an introduction from our competition coordinator and YBPOTY ambassador, Megan McCubbin.
